People who shouldn't vote

From npr:

Female Voters Reflect on Clinton's Win

Many said they voted for Clinton because they wanted a female president.

Some women admitted they were touched by Clinton's display of vulnerability at a local cafe, when a voter asked her how she remained so upbeat and Clinton's eyes, in turn, became misty.

"When I saw the tear-up replayed on the news, it looked like Clinton was truly moved. It proved she had soul," said Carol Brownwood.

"I have to vote for Hillary. Women in this country are never recognized for what they accomplished or what they say," said retired Episcopal priest Anne Webb, who was undecided until three days before the primary.

But the desire for change could trump female voters' support for a fellow woman. Brigit Johansen is a New Hampshire farmer who raises grass-fed beef. Originally, she supported Clinton but switched to Obama because she says he allows you "to dare to hope."

Nothing about the issues. Nothing about experience.

I know some liberal, women bloggers. While woefully misguided, many of them are not morons. I'm wondering; doesn't this embarrass you? Don't you cringe when you hear these bimbos portrayed as "The Female Vote"?

  • What makes me cringe is news sources talking about "The Female Vote", like we're some kind of alien species. And yes, some people are idiots, women and men alike.

  • In a word, yes. But since only 3% of the top positions in mainstream media are held by women, less that 25% of op-ed writers are women, and less than 15% of political beat journalists are women, I'm really not surprised that this is what is offered as "women's views." That's the story that male-dominated media outlets want to foreground -- women as emotion-driven impressionable dumbass. That's why I don't waste my time listening to NPR.

But then again, most news coverage embarrasses me because it turns out that most humans are morons.

  • I heard the same NPR piece and came to about the same conclusion.

One dingy broad talked about how excited she and her daughters were about voting for a WOMAN! Nevermind what that woman's politics may or may not be. The only important thing is, apparently, gender.

That's why I only vote for old, white men.

  • All day long.

My fellow feminists did not die face down in the muck so that this strumpet could cry her way into office.... or something like that. You get the gist.
