Frivolous Lawsuits

The town of Hazelton, PA has enacted anti-immigration laws that do the following:

Deny a business permit to anyone hiring illegals.
Impose a $1000 fine to any landlords who rent to illegals.
Establish english as the town's official language.

Right on cue, the usual dopes have filed a lawsuit. The left is all for democracy, except when things don't go their way. Then, they have no problem using the courts to overturn the will of the people.

What bugs me is the basis for their lawsuit. Get this:

Lee Llambelis, legal director of the Fund, said the suit will argue that the ordinance erodes the federal government's power to regulate immigration.

Are you serious? That's the best you can come up with?

  • Isn't that the problem, The Feds are unable to regulate immigration? If they were, the law wouldn't have been enacted.

  • So, would you argue that the law should not be in place because it might be used to persecute legal latinos?
Any law can be misused. That's not an argument for not having them.

Persecute is a pretty strong word. I'd say hassle would be more accurate. They'd have to show some proof of citizenship.
Whoop dee do. I'd have more sympathy for the latino community if they self-policed illegals, but they don't. How many legal residents who happen to be latino are complicit?
