Fried Chicken Giveaway Leads to Atlanta Riot

From the AJC

One movie-goer said free chicken sandwiches may had contributed to the brawl.

"It was an absolute mob scene, from the Chick-fil-A girls getting mobbed trying to hand out free sandwiches to the complete lack of respect for the people watching the movie," said Marc Freund.

The jokes write themselves.

The Right Armpit of Atlanta

Dekalb County encompasses the East Side of Atlanta and the surrounding area. It's a dump, a hole. Err...economically disenfranchised.
Not surprisingly, we have this story. Try not to fill in any stereotypes, cause stereotyping is wrong, M'cay.

DeKalb Euthanizing 34 Pit Bulls Weekly

“They are being bred the most, being neglected the most and being abandoned the most,” said Derrick.

And as Channel 2 Action News reporter Linda Stouffer uncovered, pit bulls are also being euthanized the most.

“A lot of young people think that having a pit bull makes them have status, makes them look important,” said Hawthorne.

Falling Bullets

We have a story here in Atlanta:

Marquel was seated next to his mother, Nathalee, while those in the church waited for a 12:30 a.m. concert to begin. Then, those in the sanctuary heard a loud pop. It was almost like the sound of a balloon.

Instantly, Marquel was on the floor, and he was bleeding.

An X-ray at the hospital confirmed that it was a bullet that struck Marquel, his uncle said. Doctors at the hospital had hoped to do surgery on the child, but it was too late.

Investigators returned to the church later Friday, where they discovered the point of entry for the bullet: in the roof of the church. Phipps said police believe someone fired a celebratory shot into the air, and it went through the roof on its way down.

**********************************************

Ok, there's something that doesn't add up for me. I understand that a falling bullet could hurt you, even maybe kill you. I don't see how a free-falling bullet could penetrate a roof (shingles+plywood+insulation+drywall) and then have enough energy left to penetrate a skull, even a 4-year old's skull.

My suspicion is supported by a study done during WW2:

1. Hatcher's Notebook on Falling Bullets
typed by Norm Johnson (njohnson@nosc.mil)

From Hatcher's Notebook:

"Among the many experiments carried out at Miami and Daytona, was this same one of vertical firing. It was desired to find out how fast a bullet returned to earth and how dangerous such a bullet would be if it struck a soldier after dropping from a great height. Many interesting things were learned from this test, and they are given in detail in the "Official Report of Vertical Time Flight for Small Arms Ammunition," in the files of the Ordnance Department. Much of the information given below is from that source.

"At Miami the firing was done from a platform built in the shallow water of a protected inlet, where water was often calm. A frame was built to hold a machine gun tripod so that the barrel pointed vertically. Instruments were provided to check the angle of the barrel, and the tripod controls permitted any necessary changes in the barrel inclination to be made with ease and precision.

"Out of more than 500 shots fired after adjusting the gun--only four shots hit the platform. One of the shots was a service 30.06, 150 grain flat based bullet, which came down base first...it left a mark about 1/16 inch deep in the soft pine board.

"Two more bullets struck in a pail of water and left only a perceptible dent in the bottom of the pail. One struck the edge of the thwart (seat across a boat, used by an oarsman) in the boat, and left a shallow indent...The last two bullets were 175 grain boat-tailed.

"It was concluded from these tests that the return velocity was about 300 feet per second. With the 150 grain bullet, this corresponds to an energy of 30 foot pounds. Previously, the army had decided that on the average, an energy of 60 foot pounds is required to produce a disabling wound. Thus, service bullets returning from extreme heights cannot be considered lethal by this standard.

"Most .30 caliber bullets seem to attain this final velocity, and it doesn't make any difference how far they fall. Even if a bullet was fired downward from a very high plane, it would still reach the ground at the same velocity. That is because the resistance increases very rapidly with increases in air speed. If the air resists the motion of the bullet a certain amount at 300 feet per second, it will resist three times as much at 600 feet per second and nearly nine times as much at 1000 feet per second.

"A 150 grain bullet weights .021 pounds, and when, in falling, it reaches a velocity where the air resistance balances the weight, the velocity of the fall will no longer increase.

"For a .30 caliber bullet of standard experimental shape, having a pointed nose of two caliber radius, the air resistance on the nose at 2700 fps. would be about 2.3 pounds; at 2000 fps. 1.5 pounds; at 1500 fps. .89 pounds; at 1000 fps. .17 pounds; at 500 fps. .04 pounds; at 350 fps. .025 pounds; at 320 fps. .021 pounds, balancing the weight of the bullet and stopping any further increase in velocity in the case of a falling bullet."

*********************************************
Something about the local story just doesn't add up. Could it be that the shot was fired from a height (such as a tall building) down into the church?

For that matter, those in the sanctuary reported hearing a loud pop. This was not a bullet that was fired up in the air and free-fell into the church. Somebody inside that church fired that gun, or somebody on the roof.

UPDATE:
Ballistics came back:
“I would suspect this was a rifle. An AK-47. That’s the most prolific [weapon found] downtown,” said Kelly Fite, who was the top ballistics expert with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s state Crime Lab for almost four decades.
...But most likely, the shooter was about a half mile away and the gun was tilted at about 30 or 40 degrees, not straight up, he said.

Another Inigo Montoya Moment

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Tuesday that she is pursuing plans to remove some captured illegal aliens from “prison-like or jail-like circumstances” and put them in converted hotels and nursing homes.

Napolitano explained her department’s thinking at a press conference at Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters in Washington, D.C.

“Our detention system has some who have committed crimes, others whose crimes under federal law is a misdemeanor, others who have as I said before not committed a crime at all,” Napolitano said.

Nassau DA: Hofstra Student Made Up Gang Rape Story
Charges Dropped Against 4 Men Under Arrest; Search For 5th Called Off; DA, Hempstead School Release Statements

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The student who alleged she was gang raped by five men inside a Hofstra University dormitory bathroom on Sunday has admitted to making the entire story up, the Nassau County District Attorney's office confirmed on Wednesday night.

*Remember, many feminists are aghast that anyone would doubt, or God forbid, want evidence, when a woman makes a rape accusation.

An Old Scam Made New

There's a scam that's been around for a while that basically follows this pattern:

I'll send you a cashier's check for more money than our transaction requires. You cash the check and send me back the balance.

Then a few days later, your bank informs you that the cashier's check is a fake and they take back the full amount.

A friend of mine is looking for work. He was contacted via email for a job. A guy from Canada said that he and his wife are moving to the area. He needs a driver to drive his wife around for two weeks while she scouts out a house, etc. The job paid $500/week for two weeks. The Canadian sent, via UPS, two $1000 checks to my friend, with instructions to cash them and forward the second $1000 to a travel agent or real estate agent. I'm not sure because I had already interrupted my friend to tell him it's a scam.

Bummer, Dude

Gwinnett police nab more than a ton of pot

A drug bust by Gwinnett police in cooperation with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration has uncovered more than 2,000 pounds of Mexican-grown marijuana, Gwinnett police said Tuesday.

Authorities found the drugs in a tractor trailer in Doraville and arrested five suspects between July 2 and July 11.

The 2,462 pounds of marijuana, which could set a new record for the Gwinnett police department, was transported from Mexico to a suite on Weaver Way between Buford Highway and Best Friend Road.

Four men were charged with felony drug trafficking: Edilberto Gijon-Jimenez, of Atlanta; Ramon Hernandez-Castro, of Norcross; Gilberty Riviera-Alcaraz, of Lawrenceville and Jesus Hernandez-Gutierrez, of Sugar Hill.

Pedro Mendoza-Lugo of Las Vegas is charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.

What DO they talk about?

Total scumbag, racist, bitch, Monica Conyers has plead guilty to bribery charges in Detroit. She has admitted to taking about $6000 in bribes for a sludge hauling deal. She could face up to 5 years in prison (yeah, right). I'll bet that she doesn't serve a day, but who knows, it's federal.

Her husband is powerful congressman John Conyers.

I'm sure he knew nothing about it. Afterall, couldn't you just imagine your spouse getting a $6000, in cash, bribe, and forgetting to bring it up around the dinner table?
/sarcasm

UPDATE

Well, Golly Gee. John Conyers has decided to drop his investigation of ACORN.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. has backed off his plan to investigate purported wrongdoing by the liberal activist group ACORN, saying ‘powers that be’ put the kibosh on the idea.

Just before his wife gets sentenced. What a coincidence!

Well, That's Wierd

The big story around town is about this woman who got kidnapped, hauled off to Tennessee and raped in a remote cabin, before being saved by the pizza delivery man.

The story was right out of a horror movie.

Then it got reported that the woman knew her rapist.

Then it got reported that she had two previous convictions of falsely reporting being raped, and was still on probation for the second one.

The we found out that she knew her rapist from when she worked at Tattletales (a local strip club) and he was a patron.

Now evidence is surfacing that the "rapist"'s story might be true. The two are dating and she is into bondage and rape/kidnap role playing.

Just another little reminder for the folks who think that no one should question the evidence when a woman accuses rape.

UPDATE: The woman's own mother says she lying.

The Atlanta stripper’s troubles started when she was young, family members said. She spent time in and out of youth detention facilities and mental institutions, her mother said.

When she was 15, family members said the alleged victim set her uncle’s Locust Grove home on fire - while her mother and brother were asleep inside.

Several months later, she set fire to several trash cans inside an Early County church, causing damage throughout the building, Tye-Carter said.

“She wasn’t allowed in church without parents,” the mother said.

She also was sent to counseling after locking her younger sister in a closet, which she set on fire, Tye-Carter said. That was in addition to trying to drown her sister in a bathtub full of scalding water, Tye-Carter said. Each time, family members rescued the little sister.

As she grew older, doctors diagnosed the alleged victim with psychological problems and seizures, for which they prescribed medication, her mother said.

Obama's SS is repaid for their "Protection"

Imagine if Ku Klux Klan members had stood menacingly in military uniforms, with nightsticks, in front of a polling place. Add to it that they had hurled racial threats and insults at voters who tried to enter.

Now suppose that the government, backed by a nationally televised video of the event, had won a court case against the Klansmen except for the perfunctory filing of a single, simple document - but that an incoming Republican administration had moved to voluntarily dismiss the already-won case.

Surely that would have been front-page news, with a number of firings at the Justice Department.

The flip side of this scenario is occurring right now. The culprits weren't Klansmen; they belonged to the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. One of the defendants, Jerry Jackson, is an elected member of Philadelphia's 14th Ward Democratic Committee and was a credentialed poll watcher for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party when the violations occurred. Rather conveniently, the Obama administration has asked that the cases against Mr. Jackson, two other defendants and the party be dropped.
According to the Department of Justice: "These same Defendants have made no appearance and have filed no pleadings with the Court. Nor have they otherwise raised any other defenses to this action. Therefore, the United States has the right ... to dismiss voluntarily this action against the Defendants." In other words, because the defendants haven't tried to defend themselves, the Justice Department won't punish them.

By that logic, if a murderer doesn't respond to the charges, he should be let free. That's crazy.
Hans Von Spakovsky, a legal scholar at the Heritage Foundation and a former commissioner at the Federal Election Commission, tells us, "In my experience, I have never heard of the department refusing to take a default judgment... . If a Republican administration had done this, it would be front-page news and every civil rights group in the country would be screaming about it."

Consider that the behavior of the defendants was so bad that witness Bartle Bull, a former Robert F. Kennedy organizer who did extensive legal work on behalf of black voters in Mississippi, testified it was "the most blatant form of voter discrimination I have encountered in my life."

Mr. Bull said the "clear purpose" of what the Panthers were doing was to "intimidate voters with whom they did not agree." He also said he overheard one of the men tell a white poll watcher: "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker."

Oh, Goody

In local news,

Feds seize $6 million of meth, disrupting Mexican pipeline.
(Yes, just about 2 miles from my house)

The Drug Enforcement Administration seized approximately 351 pounds of Mexican crystal methamphetamine in Gwinnett County in the largest seizure recorded on the East Coast.

Charged with felony trafficking are Jose Rafael Lopez-Jimenez, 34; Gerardo Antonio Urena-Esquivel, 35; Luis Naranjo-Leon, 23; and Hugo Flores Rios, 29. All are Mexican natives (Illegals) and are being held without bond in the Gwinnett County jail.

Although officials have ruled out any connection between this bust and a quadruple shooting Monday down the street from the Buckingham Place home, that investigation continues, Benson said.

****More on THAT story here*****

Gwinnett police seek shooters after botched drug deal

Officers said they found three males inside the house with gunshot wounds.

One of those victims, according to neighbors, fled the house and collapsed in a nearby yard. His hands were tied behind his back and he was shouting for help, neighbors said.

The other two other victims were taken out of the house on stretchers. Their conditions were unknown, Spellman said.

Another person with gunshot wounds went to Gwinnett Place mall with a friend. He was found dead in the parking lot near Macy’s, Spellman said.

Not Guilty

Jury Duty is over. I find it amazing that I got selected, but I did; one of 12 out of about 60. Ha Ha, all you bleeding heart liberals assumed I'd convict anyone, didn't you? Be honest, you did.

Honestly, I kept waiting for the state to prove its case and she never did. Here's the story.

A cop is working as a safety officer for an apartment complex.
At 1AM, he comes to the office to check and lock it down for the night. He is supposed to do this at 10pm, but he had to work late.
When he goes to set the alarm, the panel tells him that one of the zones is activated. There's no time stamp on when the alarm began being activated. It could have been that way for hours.
He goes downstairs to investigate.
Downstairs, there is a circular hallway that connects to the pool, the fitness center, the bathrooms, and the computer center. The computer center door is the only one that is kept locked. The other doors are left open to the residents until 10pm (when he is supposed to lock them, so tonight they're open until 1)
The cop sees the suspect exiting through the door to the pool. He detains him and goes back to check the computer room. He finds that the lock has been pried apart, the handle hanging from the door. There are pry marks on the door frame where the additional deadbolt has been pried apart.
The suspect has no tools on him. There are no tools found in the vicinity.
Nothing has been stolen from the computer room. The only thing out of place is a keyboard, which was placed on the monitor.
The suspect is a 17 year old (18 at the time of trial) black kid. He and his mother live in the complex.
The charge is burglary, a felony.
The suspect says he was "hanging out" and was meeting his girlfriend out in front of the office. His girlfriend is waiting in a car outside of the complex. His mother corroborates this story.
The cop said the kid told him that he had been in the computer center, but it wasn't refuted by anybody, and it seemed too likely that he asked "Were you in there?" and the kid said yes. He could have meant in the building, in the hallway, etc.
To me, there were just way too many possible scenarios and no real proof. Maybe the kid was in there to go to the bathroom before meeting his girlfriend.
The hours of unmonitored access, coupled with the pry marks and absence of tools were too much to not have tons of reasonable doubt. Before I go saddling an 18 year old with a felony charge, I've gotta be damn sure he did it.
For burglary, you have to be in the building with the intent of stealing something. It just wasn't there.

Doing the work Americans won't do.

Testimony started today for the scumbags that did a series of home invasions in Gwinnett county.
The mother testified that she was sexually assaulted in front of her infant daughter. After one man raped her, another suspect grabbed her 6-month-old daughter by the hand and leg and tossed her into a crib.

“They asked if was a boy or girl,” the woman said. “I told them it was a boy to protect my little girl.”
She said she later learned that her mother had also been raped in front of her 6-year-old sister.
The robbery crew broke into nine homes in search of cash and valuables between Feb. 25 and April 30, 2004, Fern said. They battered, shot and tortured the men, sexually assaulted women and even pistol-whipped a child.

Bios of Gwinnett home invasion suspects, all of whom are illegals.
Take special note of all the previous arrests. Either these vermin were never deported, or they were deported and walked back across our non-border. Either one is equally likely.

New Orleans, The City that Keeps Giving

Gustav evacuees busted in blue jeans thefts

Police arrested four Hurricane Gustav evacuees Thursday evening in Atlanta mimicking the Metro area’s blue jeans bandits.

The crew — three women and a man — robbed two high-end Buckhead clothing stores of jeans before they were caught. They started around 5:45 p.m., at Luna at 3167 Peachtree Road, Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said.

“Four individuals went inside Luna, grabbing as much as they could grab,” Polite said. “Then they got into a vehicle and went to Brazil and did the same thing.”

Brazil, at 1923 Peachtree Road, is just three miles north of the first store, and witnesses identified the getaway car as a Pontiac G6 with Louisiana plates.

“Officers quickly spotted the car, and [the suspects] saw the officers and fled on foot,” Polite said.

Police gave chase and quickly arrested the four, all between the ages of 19 and their early 20s, Polite said.

The designer jeans, priced from $250 and up, were strewn throughout the car.

Police said the car was a rental, and the four suspects were all New Orleans residents who had fled Gustav.

Police said all will be charged with felony theft by taking, among other possible charges.

In Local News

Norcross man gets six life sentences, then 211 years.

Gustavo Cisneros, 22, was one of nine men indicted for a series of nine home invasion robberies in Gwinnett in the spring of 2004.

The masked, armed bandits battered, shot and tortured male victims, sexually assaulted some female victims and pistol-whipped a child. They stole money, jewelry and vehicles, authorities said.

The three men were part of an organized crew that stormed into nine houses in Gwinnett and one in neighboring Barrow County between Feb. 25 and April 30, 2004. The crimes set area residents on edge because of their randomness.

The group's last robbery ended with the suspects shooting a 40-year-old man four times at a Duluth home. The man was hospitalized with serious injuries.

In another of the home invasions, on April 18, 2004, the suspects tied up a man at a house on Shadowood Road in Lawrenceville, then burned and cut his back with a heated knife.

"They were threatening to cut his sons' fingers off if they didn't tell him where their money was," Jones said.

Three women in Gwinnett and one in Barrow were sexually assaulted in separate incidents, Jones said.

Checking the docket for the Gwinnett County Sheriff, I find that they are also being held for ICE, meaning they are illegal aliens. Thanks, Mexico, for exporting your rich culture to the US!!!

Drug-related kidnappings on rise in metro Atlanta, says DEA

It seems that Mexico is exporting more of its culture to Georgia.

A Rhode Island man was chained in a basement in Lilburn for nearly a week by men who wanted to collect a drug debt.
The number of drug-related kidnappings has been on the rise in metro Atlanta the last 90 days.

Mexican organized crime is moving large amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana into the country, Benson said. Gwinnett is the focal point for the Mexican drug trade here because of easy access on I-85 and a large Hispanic population where drug traffickers can try to blend in.

Representatives of Mexican drug cartels in Atlanta are "clashing with each other," Benson said.

His three captors were armed with a military-style .223 rifle and a 9mm handgun, a DEA agent said. They fled but were captured. One man, Victor Abiles-Gomez, 20, hid in a sewer and was holding his breath under water when captured, the agent said.

Charged were Abiles-Gomez; Omar Mendoza-Villegas, 19, and Gerardo Solorio-Reyes, 23, all illegal immigrants from Mexico.

Alleged Insurance Fraud

A friend told me this story last night.

We got to talking about car accidents we'd had. He said that a few years ago, he was driving down the highway, when a car in front of his lost a wheel. The entire wheel came off the lugs and flipped end over end. He hit it while it was flat and it stopped his truck dead. He said he was looking through the windshield at the pavement; his truck was pointing that much down. He came to a stop, and got out. He was talking with a semi driver who also got caught up in the accident. The tire came off of a beatup van filled with latino men, none of whom spoke english. Immediately after the accident, the men were frantically trying to put a spare tire on their van. (To leave the scene, perhaps?) The lugs were damaged, so they discovered they were stuck. It took a while for the cops to arrive. During that time, a truck drove up to the scene and a latino man jumped out. "That guy's going to claim to be the driver because he has a license and insurance.", said the semi driver to my friend. "I've seen this before."

After the cop arrives, he asks, "Ok, who was driving?"

Sure enough, Mr Tardy raises his hand. My friend says, "Officer, if there's one thing I know, it's that THAT guy was not driving. We saw him pull up after the accident." The cop takes my friend and the semi driver to his squad car and puts them in the back seat.

He says to them, "Look, here's the deal. Either you can agree that THAT guy was the driver and get your damages covered. I've checked the guy's insurance and it's good. Or you can say it was one of the other guys and never see a dime. It's your call."

So my friend agreed it was the guy who claimed it was him and got his truck replaced.

Allegedly. Or I could have made the whole story up.
